Retirement of ITA executive secretary Phillip Knight
The ITA’s executive
secretary for the last
ten and a half years,
Phillip Knight, retired
on 29 February 2012.
During his tenure the
ITA’s worldwide influence
developed, especially in
emerging economies.
Other
developments
during his watch included
the introduction of a coloured ITAN newsletter in hard copy
and electronic formats; a re-designed, regularly updated
website that has recorded increased visits every year;
introduction of new exhibitions in conjunction with Messe
Düsseldorf in China, Russia, UAE, Brazil and India; support
for key Turkish exhibition BORU; planning and organisation
of many conferences and seminars around the world; and
the establishment of ITA representative offices in a number
of key markets.
Following a period of bad health in the second half of 2011
Mr Knight has decided to retire but will continue to assist
the ITA on a limited basis as a consultant/advisor to the
ITA International Executive Board, of which he is already
a member. This will facilitate the handover period for Peter
Byroslawsky, his successor as executive secretary.
Before he left Mr Knight said: “It has been a real pleasure
to work for the ITA for the last ten and a half years. I have
enjoyed making friends with industry colleagues all over
the world. The job would have been impossible without the
strong support of the various ITA boards, and of Dr Gunther
Voswinckel and Mr Tsutomu Nakata in particular, as well as
the outstanding and professional ITA members. I wish all
ITA members and my successor, Mr Peter Byroslawsky, the
very best for the future!”
