Tube India International 2012 –
a new position in the exhibition calendar
for a well-established event
The biennial Tube India International’s fifth edition has
moved from its traditional position in the year, early
February, to late autumn with the 2012 edition taking place
from 30 October to 1 November in hall 1 of the Bombay
Convention & Exhibition Centre, Goregaon (East), Mumbai.
This year Tube India will run concurrently with related and
complimentary exhibitions Metallurgy India and Welding &
Cutting India.
Tube India International’s change of dates brings it together
with the Wire & Cable India exhibition, acquired by
Messe Düsseldorf three years ago. Running these two
key events for the tube and wire and cable industries
together duplicates the now well established model of
complimentary trade fairs organised by Messe Düsseldorf
in Germany, Russia, China, Bangkok and Brazil. It can only
benefit all of the four concurrent exhibitions in offering such
a comprehensive range of interest to all visitors from the
metal forming and processing industries.
The Tube India
I n t e r n a t i o n a l
exhibition is open to
visitors from 10:00 to
18:00 hours on 30
and 31 October and
from 10:00 to 17:00
hours on 1 November
2012. Entrance to the
exhibition is free to
trade and business
registrants. Organised by Messe Düsseldorf India Pvt Ltd
the trade fair has been supported by the ITA and the ITA’s
Indian Management Board since the inaugural event in
Hyderabad. It is also supported by the industry’s most
important exhibition Tube Düsseldorf. Messe Düsseldorf
GmbH is responsible for international participation.
In 2010 Tube India International together with Metallurgy
India featured 274 exhibitors from 22 countries and
occupied 12,000m
2
of sales space, a 27 per cent increase
on previous editions. There were 6,420 visitors in 2010
from 29 countries, an increase of 60 per cent. Exhibitor
reviews after the event were very positive with 68 per cent
rating it as “good” and 18 per cent as “excellent” and 90
per cent prepared to recommend participation in the 2012
edition.
There will be a wide range of industry sectors at Tube India
International that will be of great interest to visitors and
a full list of these sectors can be found on the exhibition
website:
The ITA will be exhibiting
in hall 1 and will provide a full range of support services
for members whether exhibiting or visiting the event. Tube
India International is of great importance to the ITA given
that the largest proportion of association membership
comes from India. There are good reasons for this: the
ITA offers tremendous benefits to Indian members at a
very economic price and visitors are invited to visit the ITA
stand 1G42 to learn more about what membership can do
for them.
The ITA’s Indian Management Board is also organising a
one day supporting conference on 29 October, the eve of
the exhibition,
“Emerging technologies in pipe and tube”
,
at the Lalit Continental Hotel in Mumbai. Full details of this
conference and a registration form can be found on the ITA
website.
Why the Indian market is so important to the tube and
pipe industry
When the Government of India in 1991 ushered in an era of
de-licensing, price decontrol, lowering of import restrictions,
lowering of duties and abolition of freight equalization it
resulted in increased domestic production and further
opened up opportunities for doing business in India. The
Indian copper pipes and tubes industry is poised for around
25 per cent growth in the next 2-3 years.
Estimated investments in Indian steel production capacity
will be nearly 243 million tons by the year 2020. This will
take India from being the current 5th largest steel producer
to the 3
rd
largest by 2015 and 2nd largest by 2020, second
only to China. India will offer US $20 billion worth of
investment opportunities over the next three years for
expansion of new ferrous and non-ferrous plants. As energy
consumption and inefficiency in Indian smelters have been
major problems, there is ample scope for improvement in
the efficiencies of operations and India has the potential to
rank among the world’s top five suppliers and markets for
steel and aluminium.
Major projects in diversified sectors like rail and air
transport, energy, infrastructure, steel, power, oil refining,
chemicals, manufacturing, automobiles, environment,
defence and so forth promise a lot in terms of investment,
growth and business opportunities in India.
There is no doubt that Tube India International and the
three concurrent exhibitions are must visit events for metal
forming and processing industry professionals.
