Non-contact, continuous meas-
urement of the surface temper-
ature
During the extrusion of plastic it
may be necessary to measure the
surface temperature to ensure that
the products are not too hot when
they exit the extruder, because
overheating is a risk for the forma-
tion of stains.
A stand-alone system for tem-
perature measurement
SIKORA always follows the call of
the market – that is why the WIRE-
TEMP 6010, which was originally
developed for applications in the
cable industry, is now available as
an independent measuring device
also for hose and tube applications.
Irrespective of external influences,
the WIRE-TEMP 6010 measures the
temperature of any plastics con-
tinuously on a non-contact base.
Designed for round products with a
diameter from 0.1 mm to 10 mm,
alternatively from 0.15 mm to 100
mm (WIRE-TEMP 6100), the system
is laid-out for product tempera-
tures up to 150°C, optionally up
to 200°C. The measurement of the
temperature is independent of the
material and the structure of the
product surface.
A big advantage over convention-
al systems is that the temperature
measurement is made by means of
a thermal image sensor in an in-
frared camera, which detects the
product reliably with its wide meas-
uring range.
Perfect communications
Various alternative communication
interfaces ensure that measuring
values are transferred to a SIKORA
processor system, a controlling unit
or laptop. The universal interface
module for connections to RS485,
RS232, Profibus-DP or industrial
field busses as CANopen, Ethernet/
IP, DeviceNet, Profinet IO fulfills
every wish. The interface module
and all connection plugs are ful-
ly sealed for perfect protection
against water, dirt and mechanical
damage.
Multimedia connection
In keeping with the multimedia
generation, the WIRE-TEMP 6010
offers an optional WLAN (WiFi) in-
terface. It enables diagnostics and
quality control.

Measurement system for single
layer products even more com-
pact
Those who opt for an x-ray instru-
ment of SIKORA expected besides
the improvement of production
processes and the simple handling
one thing especially: the friction-
less integration into the line. To
meet these needs, the engineers
designed the X-RAY 6035 even more
compact. “Saving space is a critical
aspect during the integration of a
new device”, says Harry Prunk, CEO
of the SIKORA AG. “If the line has
to be rebuilt it can be expensive.”
SIKORA provides two x-ray meas-
urement systems for quality control
during the hose and tube extru-
sion: the X-RAY 6000 and the PRO
version. Especially for product lines
where only one layer of material or
the total wall thickness is meas-
ured, the X-RAY 6035 is relevant.
It is a cost-effective yet highly
powerful instrument for continuous
measurement of inner and outer
diameter, wall thickness and ec-
centricity of single layer tubes and
hoses. Besides various products
made of PE, HDPE, PVC and EPR,
also foamed pipes and hoses of ED-
PM, nylon, rubber or silicon can be
measured reliably.
With the X-RAY 6035, the engineers
of SIKORA have succeeded to re-
duce the dimensions by 20 percent
– which not only saves space but
also resources.
