and more importantly there can
be no conflicting measurements
between operators, as I am sure
we have all seen the odd “white
thumb” when people as squeezing
the component into shape with the
vernier callipers.
Despite the simple handling, this
method of course offers new appli-
cation areas for profile scanning.
For example the scanning of larger
inside areas of profiles with slots.
In such a case the sensor is able to
look into the slots from different
viewing angles – it is just a ques-
tion of turning the profile into the
correct position to do so to reduce
the “dead range” often associated
with “multi laser” devices.
COPRA® ProfileScan Desktop is also
able to scan both – open as well
as closed cross sections. Material
can be steel, aluminium or even
plastic. A special purpose camera
with high dynamic range (HDR),
allows you to also measure differ-
ent surface qualities. The maximum
dimension of a cross section is 80
mm in width and a length of up to
310 mm.
As with all products from data M,
there is also complete integration
with the COPRA® Workflow, flower
patterns can be integrated from
COPRA® RF and of course cross sec-
tion comparisons and deviation di-
agrams can be compared with the
results of simulations from COPRA®
FEA RF, making the CPS desktop the
ultimate companion to any roll tool
test engineer.
So all in all I ask myself, at 2 am in
the morning is there now an excuse
for the night shift for no longer
conducting inspection? After all it
doesn’t take as long to do and I
don’t have to write anything down
anymore …
