Past, Present & Future – 30 years of the International Tube Association
15
Oneof themost important aspects of formal gatherings
of tube and pipe engineers at technical events is the
opportunity for networking and stimulating discussion
and debate.
In its 30 year history the ITA has organised nearly fifty
technical events alone. At many of these table top
exhibits provide delegates, speakers and sponsors
with additional opportunities to interact with industry
colleagues.
The list of past conferences in the appendix (page 39)
demonstrates the scope and geographical distribution
of the ITA’s formal technical programme, which is set to
continue into the future with events planned in Beijing,
Istanbul and Mumbai in 2009 and 2010.
Other networking opportunities for members that
have been established over the years include the ITA’s
members’ lunch held on the Wednesday at every Tube
Düsseldorf exhibition; social evenings at many of the
technical events and a special reception for Chinese
members during the Tube China exhibition.
Whilst the ITA uses and continues to develop various
forms of electronic media to assist members in their
contacts with fellow industry professionals in many
cultures there is still no substitute for face to face
meetings and discussions and creating networking
opportunities will continue to be a key role for the
Association.
