After 21 years of increasing influence worldwide and
having established regional boards in India, North
America and the Asia Pacific area the ITA Executive Board
acknowledged that these regions needed to have an
even greater say in the global affairs of the Association.
Accordingly in 2000 a regional European Management
Board (EMB) was formed, under the chairmanship of
David Rippon.
At the same time the ITA created the International
Executive Management Board (IEMB) to be the senior
ruling body for the ITA’s policies and business affairs.
The IEMB draws representatives from each of the four
regional management boards to govern the Association,
headed by the ITA chairman.
An Administration Sub Committee (ASC) deputises for
the IEMB between board meetings and oversees the
formal election of new members.
Several sub committees exist to assist the ITA in the
administrationof theAssociation’s technical, educational
and financial affairs. (The ITA organisational chart is
shown on page 28)
The appointment of an Indian representative office in
1997 was very successful. To facilitate the development
of the ITA and its influence in other important regions the
Association established representatives for the Russian
speaking world in 2005, Ukrtruboprom (the Ukrainian
Tube Association) and in China, CCRSA (the China Cold
Roll-forming Steel Association). Both appointments led
to substantial increases in membership in these regions.
