and copper plants and later to
Mannesmann Demag Sack, which
focused on cold rolling mills and
processing plants.
In addition to his increasingly
growing experience as an engineer
he extended his knowledge in all
aspects of management and sales
and became initially a manager
of sales for seamless pipe mills
and later on he changed to be-
ing an executive manager sales
for seamless pipe and cold rolling
mills. With the beginning of the
new century Gerhard Kulessa, in
May 2000, accepted an offer from
Friedrich Kocks GmbH & Co.KG until
2006 when he dared to leap out-
side Germany starting a brand new
position as vice president sales at
Danieli & C. in Italy, where he also
subsequently held the position of
managing director of Danieli W& K
from 2009 until 2012 and member
of the Supervisory Board of Danieli
Centro Tube International.
Over a year ago, in March 2012,
Gerhard Kulessa started his – un-
til today - major leap forward and
abroad into one of the newly indus-
trializing economies and was ap-
pointed General Manager Interna-
tional Projects at Taiyuan TONGZE
Heavy Industry* for seamless tube
plants. With his profound knowl-
edge in all major fields of engi-
neering and his broad perspective
of international sales and business,
Gerhard Kulessa is highly qualified
to be an honoured member of the
European Management Board. We
cordially wish Gerhard Kulessa very
good and productive times with
the IEMB.

ers equipment manufacturing for

Michael Cottin
Mr Michael Cottin joined the ITA in
2009 as a regular member. Shortly
after he became Vice Chairman of
the International Executive Man-
agement Board of the ITA. Due to
his expert knowledge of the pipe
and tube business worldwide and
his position as Vice President at
SMS Meer*, Michael was highly re-
spected within the ITA boards. A
clear thinking, positive and very
capable colleague, Michael sup-
ported the ITA whenever he could
both personally and technically.
He will leave SMS Meer at the end
of April 2013 to start a new career
at SMS Siemag AG. At SMS Siemag
Michael will assume the position of
Executive Vice President, responsi-
ble for the Business Unit “Process-
ing Line”. As SMS Siemag is not in-
volved in the tube and pipe market
Michael decided to leave the Inter-
national Tube Association.
We wish Michael all the best for his
new career and thank him for his
generous support. Needless to say
that we will miss him!
Resignation – time to say
goodbye to Michael Cottin!
