With the planning of our 13th
branch office in Boston, MA, SIKO-
RA clearly commits to our compa-
ny´s expansion in the US market. In
this interview, SIKORA´s CEO Harry
Prunk explains why the continuous
growth of markets is so important
to the company.
Mr. Prunk, just at the beginning
of 2012 SIKORA opened the Dubai
branch office, followed by a new of-
fice in Brazil and now you are plan-
ning a second branch office in the
United States. Why is expansion in
that area of importance to SIKORA?
An important point for expansion
is that the branch requirements
have changed. Compared to our
branch openings 20 years ago, that
strongly emphasized sales, custom-
ers today require service activities
on site. Furthermore, measuring
technology becomes more and
more important in matters of qual-
ity control. At any time, a device
must be available. Thus, a perfect
service network is of great impor-
tance. Delivering yearly a couple of
thousand devices worldwide, we of
course provide local service in the
United States.
You already have a branch office in
the US. Why would you think about
opening a second one in Boston?
Our first US branch office was
opened in 1991. The American
market has increased strongly
since then. We question now if one
single office is able to cover all
the American states. In contrast,
SIKORA China, which also opened
in 1991, now offers service from 3
branch offices. That is why we de-
cided to open a new office in North
East America, too. So we will be
even better able to answer cus-
tomer requests from the North East
American area and to provide quick
and competent help. For SIKORA,
customer satisfaction is our num-
ber one priority.
How do you recruit staff for your
company?
Over nearly 4 decades SIKORA has
evolved into a very interesting
company. Via our products and
technologies, we are recognized as
a brand. The many awards that we
receive for innovations and com-
pany concepts confirm this. Public
presence improves our publicity.
Often, candidates contact us and
apply for a job. They call us direct-
ly in Bremen. Quite often, we do
not have vacancies, but if the can-
didates´ profile is interesting, we
nevertheless create a job for him
or her. In this way, we have found
many highly qualified colleagues
in the past. We would be happy to
find great staff for our Boston of-
fice in the same way!
