The European Management Board
of the International Tube Associa-
tion is delighted to welcome Bengt
Jagaeus “on board”.
A a native born Swede Bengt Ja-
gaeus studied at the Royal Insti-
tute of Technology in Stockholm,
capital of Sweden, where he gradu-
ated in 1984 in the field of materi-
al Science and metal Working.
He started his career in 1984 at SKF
Steel in Hofors, where he was in
charge of the process develop-ment
and held a position as technical
manager for hot and cold rolled
bearing tubes. Later SKF Steel has
been taken over by Ovako Steel, an
international business enterprise
with a variety of production plants
and sales companies in Europe and
the US, also located in Hofors. At
Ovako Steel Bengt Jagaeus start-
ed in 1988 as production manager
for hot rolled tubes. Over six years
Bengt worked as a production man-
ager, technical manager and gen-
eral manager for hot rolled tubes.
For a period of seven years he was
in charge as project manager for a
new Assel mill line including build-
ing and finishing lines and as Gen-
eral Manager for tube components
cuttings and machining.
Between 2003 and 2007 Bengt
Jagaeus hold several positions as
managing director for longitudinal
welded tubes and mechanical work-
shops (Wirsbo and Atlings) and as a
director at Danieli Centro Tube for
proposals and sales of tube mills,
mainly to Russia before he changed
in 2008 to Sandvik Materials Tech-
nology* where he is engaged as a
senior manager for extrusion press-
es and alternative methods for
stainless tube making ever since.
Bengt Jagaeus’ core competenc-
es are widespread. Experienced in
manufacturing of hot rolled tubes
along with an expertise in piercing
and Assel mills for bearing and low
alloyed seamless steel tubes, he is
also an expert for lean production,
productivity and cost reduction for
tubular products additionally to his
long-term knowledge in extrusion
of seamless stainless and high al-
loyed tubes.
Over and above Bengt Jagaeus
possess many years of experience
in leadership and management of
tube mills and related operations
not only in his home country Swe-
den, but also in other European
countries as well as in China and
Russia. Since Bengt joined the
International Tube Association in
2012 he acquired the respect of
the associates. We cordially wel-
come Bengt Jagaeus as our new
member on the European Manage-
ment Board and wish him a long
and successful membership within
the International Tube Association.

has elected Gerhard Kulessa, Gen-
eral Manager International Projects
at Taiyuan TONGZE Heavy Industry,
as a member of the European Man-
agement Board (EMB).
With more than two decades of ex-
periences in international business
including China, India and Russia,
Gerhard Kulessa’s profile exactly
matches the profile and the needs
of the ITA.
Graduating as a mechanical engi-
neer from the University of Duis-
burg, Gerhard Kulessa started his
career in the late 80s as an as-
sistant engineer and later design
engineer at Jappsen & Stangier,
Müheim, a company specialising in
the engineering of elevators, esca-
lators and cranes. At the beginning
of 1990, he moved to Mannesmann
Demag Meer, located in Möncheng-
ladbach, which specialized in tube
